If you like happy books where everything is sunshine and rainbows, then this is not the book for you. Spilled Milk is a book of unimaginable heroism. It’s about unbelievable courage to stand up for what’s right, even when you end up being one of the few still standing.
This beautiful story based on true events that will break your heart, inspire you, and leave you ‘ugly crying’ as author K.L. Randis puts it.
It’s only Spilled Milk
Brooke Nolan begins to realize her home life is far from normal, after which, she finds herself diving through the proverbial rabbit hole in search of justice. As well as some sort of normalcy- for herself and her family. It becomes clear that she is in for the long haul from the moment she actually speaks her truth.
This book is a must read in a time where survivors of abuse are often labeled as liars. Spilled Milk screams in the face of the issues that surround a broken system. It speaks of true strength and moving forward in your life in a healthy and meaningful way. A way that not everyone can wrap their mind around having endured that kind of abuse.
K.L. Randis has an inexplicable way of dropping you into the scene, immersing you in every wave of emotion. Beautifully written! A must-read for empowering survivors and their support systems.
I rate this 5 out of 5 stars for two reasons;
- It’s a beautiful story of triumph over the evil in this world, and the ability to overcome even the most destructive obstacles.
- Since it is based on true events, it’s a hauntingly raw and honest account about something that is very difficult for many people to openly talk about. Let alone to write a debut novel about.
